bathing mistakes to avoid

So just thinking about it, what could go wrong with bathing? What are the possible bathing mistakes one can make? Yeah?

Can it get more difficult than just getting into the bathroom, you foam up, you wash off, and you get out!

But believe it or not, there are a couple of things that could go wrong within those few minutes you spend in the bathroom.

Having our bath is something we do daily. Often between 2-3 times a day. So I think we should pay proper attention to this daily routine.

Well, it turns out that there are lots of mistakes that could be made while having one’s bath. And almost all of us are guilty of these mistakes. So without further ado, here are some of the commonest bathing mistakes to avoid.

#1. Spending too much time in the shower

After going through the hustle and bustle of our rigorous daily activities, it is only natural to want to spend a couple more time in the shower. Relaxing, easing stress, calming our body, and meditating on things that went on during the day.

But more often than not, we fail to realize that it is not too needed for a healthy skin. On average, you should be spending around 10 minutes in the bathroom. Anything more than that could cause the skin to begin to lose moisture. This can ultimately lead to dry and less fresh skin.

So, once you are in there, just do all the necessary wash offs, then get out without spending so much time than required.

#2. Constantly Bathing with Hot Water:

You might not have known but constantly bathing with hot water does more harm than good to your body. The sweet, relaxing, and comforting feeling that hot water provides might make one fail to realize the potential harm it is causing to the skin.

Constantly bathing with hot water makes the skin lose its essential natural oils. These oils evaporate from the skin, leaving the skin less moisturized. And as well opens your skin pores more, thereby making it more susceptible to bacteria and microorganisms.

Dermatitis, dryness of the skin, and skin irritations are common consequences of using water that might be too hot for the skin. The best is to keep the water as lukewarm as it can get.

#3. Scrubbing/Exfoliating Your Face Every day

It is a healthy tendency to want to properly scrub your face to get rid of dead skin cells and keep the face clean. However, overdoing this can be very dangerous to your skin.

Scrubbing your face every single day isn’t healthy for the face at all. The face is much milder than other parts of the body. And as such, excessive scrubbing could cause wear and tear, dryness of the face, unpleasant and not too fresh-looking face.

Over scrubbing in some persons could cause their face to become oiler. Thus increasing the tendency of their face to trap clouds of dust, and microorganisms. You can instead scrub gently only a few times in a week. And preferably in the evenings when you just came back from your daily activities.

#4. Shaving Before Shower

It is only normal to want to shave before showering so that you can simply wash off all the dirt during a shower. But believe it or not, this is not the best approach. You are meant to shower first, then wait for around 10 to 15 minutes. Within this period, the water on your hairs must have settled, and your follicles open. Then you can begin to shave.

This method makes the hair gentle and easier to shave. It also helps reduce the risk of razor injuries. So next time, shave after you must have had your bath. Then afterward, if you wish to, you can bath again.

#5. Washing Your Hair Everyday

Washing your hair every day might not be the best of practice. Because this will cause the hair to lose its natural oils much quicker than normal, subsequently making your hair unhealthy. Washing your hair a couple of times within the week is just ok.

#6. Combing your Hair while Washing it

Combing your hair while washing it can lead to hair breakage. At the point of washing the hair, the hair follicles are weak, and the hair pores are open. As a result, if you comb your hair at the same time, this can lead to hair breakage.

#7. Dirty loofahs and towels:

Our towels and sponges should be kept clean at all times because they are very good places where germs and bacteria can settle without us knowing. Ensure to wash your towels regularly to reduce the possibilities of germs being found on it.

#8. Not Moisturizing After Your Shower

If you can, just moisturize even while you are still in the bathroom. Moisturizing your skin is a good skincare routine, worst of all is leaving it out completely. Shea butter, cucumber, ginger root, ginseng, are good ingredients of a good skin moisturizer.

#9 Soaking In Chlorinated Water

Chlorinated water is dangerous for your skin. Always wash with the drinking faucet water to save your skin of ailments.
